Be Still, Listen And Know

Don’t overthink it. Be still listen and know.

That’s what my friend, Carol, said to me last week. I met her on my first trip to Bermuda last November, and it was good to finally catch up with her on Whatsapp again.

We were talking about the ups and downs of life we all experience, and Carol was saying how easy it is to miss signs and messages that are all around us if we’re not paying attention, or if we’re not spiritually grounded.

It’s easy to complicate things.

But all we have to do is “be still, listen and know,” as Carol said.

Signs come in so many ways, and the truth is our ancestors and spirit guides send them more often than we think.

The signs you’ve been praying for might not come WHEN you expect them, but I promise the messages will be there when you NEED them.

And when the signs come, you must have the courage to act on them.

You might not have the courage to act with conviction right now, but I pray you find the strength to move forward with your life.

That’s exactly what one of my clients did recently…

Elizabeth acted on signs she had been receiving for years and finally decided to end the toxic relationship with her husband. It’s a difficult time for my client as she moves forward with the divorce, but she’s doing it anyway. And she feels more free.

“It’s a strange feeling being alone,” she said in a text to me this morning. “It’s different, but I’m at peace.”

What do YOU have to do to feel more free?

If you’re not sure what direction to go in, I suggest going in the direction you feel will give you the most peace.

Maintaining a daily spiritual practice helps because it makes us more receptive to messages from Spirit.

And be sure to cut back on distractions. For me, that means limited social media and zero TV. Find what works for you.

This is all for now. Would love to know what messages have been showing up in your life, so please feel free to write. I’ll respond asap.

Until we speak again, may the ancestors guide and protect you always.

All My Love

Official Release Of New Trailer

I’ve officially launched a new trailer for my film, Across The King’s River.

I’m happy to say we anticipate my film will be completed in approximately 15 to 18 months.

If you like what you see, we would love your support by making a donation/investment of any amount.

You can check out the rewards we are offering by clicking here.

Across the King’s River is a film about finding and fulfilling your life’s purpose: it’s also a celebration of African and Caribbean spirituality and wisdom.

I’m working with an amazing film director in Bermuda, and major forces in the film and music industry will be partnering with us soon.

We invite you on this journey.

As you probably know, I began working on this film more than ten years ago. I’ve faced endless challenges along the way. In fact, if I knew how hard it would be when I first started out, I would have probably said “Hell No.”

But I’m glad I said yes.

Working on this project has changed my life: it has made me stronger, more insightful, more determined.

I’ve never given up because I’m creating this film for the ancestors.

And I’m also creating this film for you. We hope it connects you to your purpose

I’ve learned so many lessons along the way. (And I’m still learning:)

1. Whatever you hope to achieve is likely to take longer than you expect. But keep going.
2. When things don’t go your way, think of it as a blessing — not a curse. Something better is coming your way.
3. Listen to your heart, not the opinions of others.
4. Maintain a daily spiritual practice for clarity and for your emotional well-being.
5. Have faith that the resources you seek will eventually come your way.
6. Eliminate distractions and stay committed to personal development.

This is all for now, my friend.

The next 15 months of film production will be challenging, but I have faith in my team, our ancestors, and you!

Let me know what you think of the trailer, and don’t forget to invest in our project if you feel inspired to do so. Feel free to share it with your friends. Across The King’s River

And let me know what you’ve been up to.

All the love to you and thanks in advance for your support over the years.

Your Ancestors Have Messages For You

I was a guest on Remembering Our Way Home recently…

It’s a new podcast series hosted by Nadirah Goldsmith, and you can check out our conversation here: Podcast Interview

Nadirah kicked off the interview by asking about my first profound experience with an ancestor. I’ll never forget the year nor the moment.

…It happened in San Francisco in 2002 — that was the year a famous medium made it clear that my deceased grandmother had important messages for my son.

The messages were powerful and clear.

I wrote about my experience in Meditations Across The King’s River. It forever changed the way I viewed life and death. It changed my son too.

And It gave me the boost of confidence that what I had been learning in African spiritual traditions is true — our ancestors are indeed around us, and can guide and interact with us if we are open to the signs.

My son and I still talk about our experience with grandma even though it happened 19 years ago.

Here’s the thing, I don’t believe some of us receive messages and others don’t. But I do believe some are more aware and receptive than others.

How can you become more receptive to the subtle messages from the Other World? I always tell clients that a consistent spiritual practice is the foundation. You need to make yourself available for divine communication on a daily basis.

And remember that your connection to your guides is a relationship — it’s a two way street. We can’t approach the ancestors with a list of demands. They are guides; not magicians.

Be open to how messages might come to you.

While some folks might receive ancestral messages through dreams, there are countless ways your ancestors might be attempting to communicate with you. I almost never dream. For me, my guidance tends to come in the form of inspiration.

I like to keep things simple. I trust my intuition, and I follow inspiration. Don’t overthink it — keep it moving.

Let me know if you’ve been receiving messages lately, and how they have been impacting you.

In the meantime, feel free to check out my my short interview with Nadirah, Here’s the link, once again. Remembering Our Way Home

I’ve been quiet lately, but I’ll be sharing more things with you very soon.

Be safe until we talk again. Respond to this newsletter, and I’ll write you as soon as I can.

How To Get Unstuck

I had a conversation with a client who is also a friend about two weeks ago.

He no longer feels passionate about the things he once felt strongly about — at least, not at this very moment.

As you might imagine, he’s sort of at the crossroads, trying to decide what his next step should be. He’s questioning his purpose, and it’s stirring up more questions than answers.

Has this ever happened to you? Or is it happening to you right now?

If so you’re not alone. Many people feel the same way, and there is no easy answer.

We can’t fake passion — it’s either there or it’s not.

But here’s what I’ve learned. If you’re waiting for passion to return before you continue working on your dream, it might not happen, and you might miss important life lessons or the sense of fulfillment you’ve been seeking.

At some point passion simmers down or ends, and that’s when conviction and dedication must kick in. It requires discipline.

Business coach, Kamila Brown Washington, has this to say:

Stop waiting until you feel motivated to take consistent action. The only time you take action can’t be when you feel like it. You have to make moves, every day, even if you’re tired, or annoyed or don’t feel like it.”

In my twenties I had a chance to interview David Hinds, lead singer of the famous reggae group, Steel Pulse. He told me that one has to practice the guitar every day, if you’re an artist like him because sometimes when you get on stage, you might not feel able or ready to perform.

Daily discipline is so important no matter what path you are following.

And consider this. Do you think Dr. Martin Luther King felt passionate about every civil rights march even though he knew there was a good chance some of his followers might die or be imprisoned? Probably not. But King had conviction — he knew our cause was just and was willing to pay the price.

It’s probably not your destiny to lead a social movement or step on a concert stage, but I know you have important gifts to offer the world. We all do.

Spirit has plans for you. Here are a few tips for staying on course when life tries to pull you off course.

1. Stop saying yes to everything or everyone.

2. Eliminate distractions. Be selective about what you give your attention to.

3. Maintain a daily spiritual practice (this is important for clarity).

4. Dedicate 30 minutes a day to your vision — consistency is what matters. Quality above quantity.

5. Have a long term vision in mind — don’t expect overnight success.
I’m here to support you. Respond to this email, l and I will write you back as soon as I can.

Love and blessings to you and your family.
